Create a crowdfunding campaign online to raise funds for higher-value home adaptations, such as a homelift. You can gain wider exposure through sharing to a larger group of people. This is a popular way of raising funds and makes it easier for you to find interested individuals, groups or companies who might wish to donate. You can explain the need behind your fundraiser and attach photos and videos; sharing across social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, plus via your own chat groups and even email.
Before you start, compare crowdfunding sites and see what each has to offer. Some are free whilst others charge a fee or retain a percentage of the donations. Some platforms have tutorials helping you to set up and run your campaign. You can set a fundraising target, and most platforms will use PayPal to collect funds. Some platforms may allow access to funds immediately whilst others may wait for the end of the campaign to release funds.

If your home requires large structural changes, it may be worth applying to the popular BBC programme DIY SOS, who accepts applications from UK homeowners who own a single private property.
The show has carried out many home transformations to make life easier for adults and children living with disability by installing specialist adaptations through a range of manufacturing partners, including Stiltz Homelifts.
You can apply yourself to be on the show or nominate someone else who needs help with their home renovation, via an online form on the BBC website.
Participants pay no costs towards the building work or materials.
